Elmlea Junior School PTA
Who are we?
A group of parents and dedicated teachers who strive to foster a strong school community through hosting school, family and parent events. We also fund raise to help buy the extras that make Elmlea such a wonderful school for our children to learn and play.
Core Committee Members (for 2019/2020):
- Chair: Vacancy
- Secretary: Vacancy
- Treasurer: Vacancy
We also have a great committed group of parents who take on projects large and small, all working together as a successful team.
We welcome anyone interested in helping and are very open to new ideas.
Regular events we organise:
- Christmas and Summer Fairs
- Quiz nights
- Termly house cake sales
- Summer lolly sales
- Children-designed Christmas cards
- Children’s Discos
- Refreshments at parents evenings and sports days
- Second-hand clothes sales and textile collections
- Elmlea Bake-Off
We also encourage everyone to make easy money for Elmlea by signing up to www.easyfundraising.com and selecting Elmlea as their chosen charity.
What do we fund?
As a result of our hard work and the support of the Elmlea Community, we typically raise over £10K per year. This has enabled us to work with Mrs Wright and the teaching staff to provide additional items for our children.
Some items we have funded:
- 2x interactive whiteboards £4500
- Y6 leavers year book donation
- National geographical subscription £175
- First news subscription
- New books £400
- Science week dome £1000
- Robotic days £700
- Arts week £650
- Ipads, digital cameras, keyboards, musical instruments.
None of these fantastic activities would happen without your fundraising and support.
You and the PTA?
There are three ways you can help the PTA:
- Join the PTA, termly meetings to plan events
- Volunteer at events, cake and clothing sales
- Support the events by attending and participating
We always need more help, enthusiasm and exciting new ideas!
It is not a closed committee. Anyone can join us at any time, in the Black Swan pub, once a term.
We have fun discussing new ideas and we also get to help the staff choose what to spend the money on!
If you don’t have time to come to meetings, but are happy to help for just 10 minutes on a lolly or cake sale on Fridays at pick-up, that is great too. So get in touch; the more the merrier!
Dates coming up:
