Extra-Curricular

Discovering Talents
Creativity and imagination are explored across the arts. Music and drama play a large part in school life. Every child is involved in a school production at least once a year and everybody is invited to join the school choir. Music lessons are offered on an individual basis and there is a flourishing school orchestra. Led by our euthusiastic and dedicated PE teacher, Sports and Physical Education enjoy a high profile in our school.

There are weekly PE/Dance and sports lessons, including swimming lessons for children in Year 3. Elmlea is represented in a wide range of sports at fixtures and competitions throughout the year. There is specialist coaching in netball, tennis, athletics, rounders, gymnastics, football, rugby and cricket.

Facilities include a dance studio and food technology room, in addition to a well-resourced library and computer suite. In the playground, there is a multi-sports pitch, climbing wall and an adventure trail.

Children have a wealth of opportunities both in and out of curriculum time which enhance their learning experience. A full and varied programme of lunchtime and after-school activities is open to all. There is something for everyone, from Art club for our budding artists to ComputerXplorers for those who have a passion for computers. Many children will want to try everything and we make sure that they can. We strive for all our children to have the chance to find and develop their interests and talents. There are opportunities and support for everyone at Elmlea, so that each child is a self-motivated, independent learner who reaches their full potential. When they leave for secondary school, our pupils are happy, confident and fully-equipped for the next phase of their learning journey.
