Teaching and Learning

A Curriculum for the 21st Century
We have an exciting, innovative and constantly-evolving curriculum designed to motivate our children and instill a love of learning which will remain with them throughout their lives. Across the curriculum, children develop and refine a wide range of skills and positive attitudes. We create opportunities for them to be reflective, resilient, resourceful individuals, able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Every Child Matters
Every child is valued equally and included fully in all aspects of school life. The progress of all pupils is monitored regularly and, where identified, suitable personalised programmes of study are established. This includes provision for our Gifted and Talented children and those with Special Educational Needs.

Through the Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education curriculum, we enable children to develop positive feelings about themselves and their development so that they will become responsible, caring people able to make informed decisions about their own behaviour and learning. We encourage our children to be aware of their role as citizens within our community, and be able to communicate and empathise with our increasingly-diverse society. During induction week, every Year 3 child meets their Year 6 buddy, a friend who is there to help, as they settle into their new school.

A Broad Curriculum
A broad, balanced, academic and social curriculum equips our children with the understanding of how to be healthy, safe and achieve their potential, enabling them to make a positive contribution to society. ICT and computing has a fundamental role across the curriculum and develops the use of investigative skills as well as ever-evolving technical know-how. To introduce linguistic skills and raise awareness of other culture, there are weekly timetabled French lessons, taught by specialist modern foreign languages teachers.
